Hope – Christ is coming again! John 14.1-11

There is coming a day when every believer in Jesus Christ will be in the presence of our Lord; a day when we will enter the glorious place He is now preparing for us; a day when the things of this earth will have faded away and we will enjoy the absolute holiness of God; a day when the troubles of today, the struggles and misery, the oppression and sorrow will no longer plague the believer; a day when temptations of sin, the evil deceits of the enemy, the wickedness of the earth will not be able to touch us; a day when sickness and pain, disease and death will be past. Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also (John 14.1-3). A day is coming when Jesus will come, and we will be in His presence, in His dwelling, far greater than anything we know of this earth.

Having given us the promise of eternity, our Lord called us to not let our hearts be troubled; to not be over-consumed by the things of this world; to not be discouraged when life seems to overwhelm and nearly overcome us. To not be troubled is to trust our Lord and His Word completely, knowing His working in our lives is good, for our good, and according to His sovereign design; it is knowing Jesus will come for those who have been cleansed from all sin by His shed blood; knowing Jesus will not forget those who He has redeemed; it is knowing He will fulfill all His promises made to us.  When Jesus comes, we will be brought into the place He is now preparing for us, for our citizenship is already there. This is the place of perfection and purity, where holiness reigns and Christ alone is worshiped.  May we now wait with anticipation for His coming; may we live honoring our Lord, unashamed; and may we rest in the hope of seeing Jesus.

Looking for Christ’s coming – we have much to be thankful for –
Terry
