Micah 7.7-20
The prophet’s message is not unfamiliar: the people of God had sinned and there would be judgment; God would not, will not, overlook sin; there must be payment for all iniquity. However, there was hope for the people of Judah; God would preserve a remnant, a repentant people who would know His great favor. A day is coming when God’s people will know the fullness of His mercy as the ugliness and penalty of all their sins are fully forgiven. Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7.18-19). There is none like our God who is able and willing to forgive the sins of His people; who will restore them to Himself; who gives eternal hope. A day will come when our Lord will show the fullness of His power in judgment on those who reject Him, and the fullness of His mercy upon His people, those who accept Him.
This God is our God. There is none able or willing to forgive us of all sins like unto the Lord. Through the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary, our forgiveness is complete; the penalty of our sins has been fully paid by our Savior; we have been set free from the bondage of the enemy and rightly deserved eternal condemnation. Who is a God who pardons like our God? There is none other. He loved us when we were blinded to our sin; when we were eternally lost and without hope; when we were rebellious and had rejected His righteousness; when we were deceived by our selfishly sinful desires; when we were the miserable children of the enemy. He pardoned us of all our sin; He accepted us as His own; He brought us into fellowship with Himself. He is our hope for today and eternally. He has loved us, and His mercy and grace will know no end.
Great God of wonders! All Thy ways
Are matchless, Godlike and divine;
But the fair glories of Thy grace
More godlike and unrivaled shine.
Crimes of such horror to forgive,
Such guilty, daring worms to spare;
This is Thy grand prerogative,
And none shall in the honor share.
Angels and men, resign your claim
To pity, mercy, love and grace:
These glories crown Jehovah’s name
With an incomparable glaze.
In wonder lost, with trembling joy,
We take the pardon of our God:
Pardon for crimes of deepest dye,
A pardon bought with Jesus’ blood.
O may this strange, this matchless grace,
This godlike miracle of love,
Fill the whole earth with grateful praise,
And all th’angelic choirs above.
Who is a pardoning God like Thee?
Or who has grace so rich and free?

Completely pardoned – we have much to be thankful for –
