Jesus Christ is God; He is Eternal; He is Creator of all; He is our Savior; He is the only Savior. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1.1-5). Jesus Christ is the Eternal Word, the second person of the Trinity. He is fully God, eternally possessing all the attributes of God, and having enjoyed the glory of His eternal dwelling. As God, along with God the Father and God the Spirit, all things were created; nothing has existence which was not made by Him; made intricately and specifically, all with definite purpose in His sovereign design; all now being sustained by His powerful hand as His purpose is being fully and intentionally fulfilled.
Willingly, at the exact time ordained and given by God, Jesus became the Word in the flesh; born of a virgin, fully man and yet fully God. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. In Christ we are able to see the purity of God’s holiness, and the awful contrast of our sinfulness; in Christ we are able to see the loving graciousness of God’s mercy in salvation taking us from the darkness of sin; in Christ we can know the fullness of redemption, being purchased by His blood shed on the Cross of Calvary; in Christ we are able to know His power to overcome all sin, all temptations of the flesh, and all the deceitful schemes of the enemy. He is our Light, for He shines in the midst of darkness so we might see His righteousness, that we might know our need for salvation, and that we might turn to Him for our hope, today and eternally. Though people may deny Christ, ignore the truth of Scripture, and reject His salvation, nothing will be able to overcome Him or darken the fullness of His eternal light and life.
Knowing the true Word, Jesus – we have much to be thankful for –
