Requesting your help

Good morning –

I ask this morning that you help by responding to the link below. As you likely know, we have a son who lives in David’s House Ministries, which in many ways is dependent on state funding. Right now, Michigan lawmakers are considering a budget proposal that would devastate direct care agencies. Part 2, Section 1033 of HB 4706 reduces agency reimbursement rates by $4.56 per hour. This is a 20% cut, while still requiring agencies to maintain the $3.40/hour raise for workers.
This impossible math will force agencies across the state to slash services, close programs, and leave vulnerable families without support. This reduction could impact David’s House Ministries by a loss of approximately $700,000.
I ask for your support by contacting your legislatures. By clicking on the link below, you can be a voice to hopefully stop this portion of the bill from being approved by the State Senate and signed by Governor Wittmer.

This is the communication received from Casey Kuperus, President of David’s House Ministries.

ATTN MICHIGAN RESIDENTS

Earlier this summer, we shared that our funding within Kent County was being reduced by 5%—nearly $250,000. Now, we’ve learned that the Michigan State House of Representatives has passed a budget that includes a $4.56 per hour reduction to direct care agencies like David’s House Ministries. This is a 20% cut, while still requiring agencies to maintain the $3.40/hour raise for workers. This could result in an additional $700,000 loss, which would be unsustainable for us and other providers across the state. Michigan is blessed with many exceptional care organizations, and whether you have a loved one in our care or support our mission, we need your help. If you are a Michigan resident, please take a moment to contact your legislators before the budget is finalized by clicking HERE. Thank you for standing with us.

Still having much to be thankful for this morning –
Terry
