Resolved to Choose Integrity

Psalm 101.1-8

King David resolved to live righteously, giving no room to selfish desires and evil intents. Though he did falter in his later years, he held to this early resolve and sought to be renewed in righteousness. I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O LORD… I will ponder the way that is blameless… I will walk with integrity of heart within my house. I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless … A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil (Psalm 101.1-4). David’s resolve, as should be ours, began with praise. Foundationally in God’s character is His love and justice. In love, He reaches out to sinners to deliver them from the certainty of our Lord’s judgment; and in His justice, He rightly judges all who rebel against Him and His Throne. Therefore, may we praise Him for our salvation, rejoicing in His redemptive grace given to us through Jesus Christ.

Resolved to praise, may we firmly resolve to live honoring our Lord. Before others, may we resolve to live blameless, doing nothing that would detract from God’s holiness, love, and grace. May we resolve to walk with integrity of heart. May we be determined that our private and public lives will be consistent; that our desires, intentions, plans, and thoughts will be pure, untainted by sinful thoughts and actions. May we resolve to not place before our eyes anything that is worthless. May we choose to not claim what is valueless in God’s eyes. May we resolve to not have a perverse heart. May we be committed to know and think truth, and never allow the corruption of what is contrary to Scripture to lead us. May we resolve to know nothing of evil, to give no credence or value to sin, to flee from all temptation to sin, and to recognize the high cost of sin and its mean consequences. May we resolve to be a people of consistent integrity, filled with praise which erupts from a heart of love, as we have our eyes ever fixed on Jesus, our Savior and Lord.

Resolved to follow the Lord – we have much to be thankful for –
Terry
