Romans 6.15-23

        Death. We will all face it. The only act which will keep us from experiencing death is the coming of Jesus Christ. Death may come suddenly and unexpectedly, or it may come following a lingering and difficult illness. What happens after we die is of greatest importance. People have come to various conclusions: nothing happens, the dead body is just dead in the grave, life will return in another form, everyone goes to a place of everlasting bliss, and more. However, we must ask, what is the basis for these conclusions; are they built on self-made deductions or one’s philosophies? Or are they founded on reliable truth, on that which is undeniable and uniquely the Word of God. According to Biblical Scriptures, the answer to what happens following death is clear: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6.23).

        Death. This is the wages of sin, the consequence of sin. However, death is not just physical, but eternal, resulting in judgment, hell, and separation from the Almighty, Eternal God. The wages for all those who do not know Christ as Savior, who do not know the power of eternal forgiveness of sin, who do not know the gift of redemption, the wages are eternal death and the reality of hell. However, for those who know that the Lord is holy, who believe the wages of sin bring separation from God, there is hope. For those who have come to Jesus Christ in faith, who believe He died on the cross and shed His blood to redeem sinners and cleanse of all sin; for those who believe that He rose from the grave, demonstrating power over death; for those who have trusted Christ as Savior He has promised eternal life. This is life after death; this is living eternally in the presence of the Savior, in a place called Heaven. Christ alone gives true hope. There can be more to life following death, for the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. May all who read these words have this eternal hope.

O the power of love divine!
Who its heights and depths can tell –
Tell Jehovah’s grand design,
To redeem our souls from hell?

Mystery of redemption this;
All my sins on Christ were laid;
My offence was reckoned his;
He the great atonement made!

Fully I am justified;
Free from sin, and more than free;
Guiltless, since for me he died;
Righteous since he lived for me.
– William Bradford

Knowing Christ as Savior – we have much to be thankful for –
