Romans 11.25-36

Having spoken of the wonderful gift, though also a mystery, of salvation by faith, of Israel’s sad disobedience and the joy of their future restoration, and of Gentiles being included in God’s redemptive plan, Paul concludes with this doxology, recognizing the supremacy of God in all things. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid?” For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11.33-36).

There is no end to the wealth of God’s wisdom and to the fullness of His understanding of all things in His creation, at all times throughout His creation, and in all places of His creation. He has full knowledge, being absolutely omniscient; nothing is hidden from Him; there is nothing He does not know. It is unimaginable for us to know His ways, inconceivable for us to know the depth of His knowledge, impossible for us to understand the mind of the Creator. However, He has given us a glimpse into His judgments and ways; He has opened our eyes that we can begin to understand the riches of His unconditional and steadfast love, His unlimited grace, and His boundless mercy; He has revealed to us all we need to know for life through the pages of His Word. All of creation has been made by and for Him; there is nothing that exists which our Lord has not made in His sovereign design. Recognizing His great gift of redemption through the person and work of Jesus Christ, His enabling for us to live in faith through the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit given to us, His full acceptance of us as He adopted us into His eternal family, and the hope given to us in promising to bring us into His glorious presence, may our response be nothing less than to Him be glory forever.

In awe of our Great God – we have much to be thankful for –
