Acts 4.1-22

Salvation is in Christ alone; eternal life, forgiveness of sin, freedom from guilt, and our hope for today is found in none other. No other person, no other religion, no religious experience is able to provide the saving hope found in Christ; regardless of what one may say, think, or do, there is salvation in none other than Jesus. As the early church was growing, the disciples faced malicious scrutiny and questioning regarding their authority and teaching. The religious leaders did not understand the message of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection; in some ways, they did not want to understand as it would disrupt their position of authority and lifestyle. But some listened and believed, and were given a new-found hope; they heard truth, and lives were changed. Peter stood firm and boldly proclaimed this message to these presumed spiritual leaders: “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4.12).

There is salvation through no other name – only the name of Jesus. He is the Son of God; He alone is the perfect Lamb given as the perfect sacrifice; His blood shed on the altar of the cross is alone able to cleanse us of all our vile and guilty sin; there is none other able to fully cleanse of all sin all condemned sinners who come before Him; His resurrection alone is able to give us victory over sin and its bondage, victory over Satan, victory over the grave, victory over eternal judgment. Only Jesus is able to save. Trusting in anyone or anything other than Christ for salvation is futile; placing hope in what cannot save, in what cannot redeem, in what has no ability will only bring hopelessness. In trusting Christ alone, believing He is the Son of God, the true, one and only Savior, there is true hope for salvation; in Christ alone forgiveness is complete, our hope is secure, our joy can be full, and our purpose is complete as we rest in Him for today and for all eternity.

Trusting Christ for salvation – we have much to be thankful for –
